Become a Member

Researchers working on topics covered by the IMOL community (see manifesto) can apply to become a member (see list in community) by filling this form.
The application will be reviewed by the IMOL Board (monthly review). The community is very open, with few criteria for inclusion:
  1. manifestation of interest in the IMOL field;
  2. research in topics potentially relevant for IMOL, such as autonomous or developmental robotics, machine learning, psychology or neuroscience of learning, AI ethics, etc.

Benefits for members

Becoming an IMOL members offers several advantages:
  • Keep up-to-date: via the website and the IMOL Community mailing list, you will get access to resources facilitating concrete research collaborations and keep in touch with scientific events, special issues and open positions in the IMOL field.
  • Be part of a scientific community: you will gain access to a network of researchers and research groups working on the IMOL topics (see topics) and gain the right to apply to become an IMOL Board member.
  • Gain visibility: your name will be added in the IMOL Members list, thereby increasing your visibility and the possibility of being contacted by other researchers for collaboration, projects, and other initiatives related to IMOL topics. You will be able to advertise open positions on the IMOL website.
  • Participate: you will be able to participate in workshops and other in-person meetings, to participate in their organization or to use the IMOL brand to organize your own IMOL-related scientific events

IMOL activities

IMOL Members can propose to the IMOL Board the organisation of activities relevant for the IMOL community, to be carried out under the ‘IMOL brand’. These include:
  • Participation in conferences with the organisation of workshops, demonstrations, tutorials, focus days, etc.
  • Organisation of journal special issues
  • Organisation of seminars or talks
  • Organisation of competitions
  • Organisation of tutorials
  • Organisation of summer schools
  • Other innovative/creative initiatives (very welcome)
The proposal of possible activities has to be addressed to the IMOL Board members. The IMOL Board will evaluate the relevance and viability of the proposed initiative. In the proposal, please indicate this information:
  • Title of the initiative
  • List of organizers
  • Purpose of the initiative and target participants
  • Description of the activities: when (single event, multiple event, possible dates, termination); where (physical; digital); what
  • Sources of the resources necessary to support the initiative
  • Implementation plan and temporal schedule
  • Other information considered relevant
